Vow & Eulogy writing tips

Wedding or Funeral Ceremonies

When you’re ready to get writing, ensure you carve out some time to go for a walk, get out into nature, meditate or look at a photo of your beloved. This way you can tune into their essence and allow that to inspire your writing.

  • Write how you would speak

  • Don’t worry about spelling or grammar

  • Re-read what you have written, record yourself and play it back so you can get a feel for how it sounds (or try a 'voice to note' app)

  • Be honest – the good, the bad and the ugly

  • Don’t be afraid to bring some humour

  • Pretend that you’ll be reading it just to them

Remember, don’t leave your script until the last minute, but feel free to tweak it right up to and including on the day, to ensure that you’re comfortable with it.

Good luck and have fun!
