Why I Converted To Glass

You would have to have been living under a rock to not notice the current trend of BPA free plastic or the conversion to glass as better mediums to help with the sustainability of the earth.

BPA was found to be causing all sorts of hormonal issues and likely contributing to some cancers, hence many of the manufacturing changes that have been implemented. I personally prefer to take it a step further and use glass.

Whilst glass comes with its own set of issues, it is recyclable and better for our health (it won’t leak nasties into your food) so that gets my tick of approval. Clear glass containers make for great food storage options and are relatively inexpensive, especially if you recycle your old jars like I do.

Glass storage containers also won’t impact the colour, taste or odour of your food like plastic containers can and they can be put in the dishwasher safely as well. Lots of companies are now creating glass drink bottles which make great accessories!

Whilst of course you have to be careful not to break the glass, I still believe the benefits outweigh the negatives when it comes to subbing out the plastic in your kitchen and replacing it with glass. Do this gradually and it can make a big difference to your health and the wellbeing of the planet long term.
