How Will You Go When The Restrictions Lift?

With a nearing one year old baby, a recent house move and new mealtime structure...I’m enjoying this slower pace of life to stay sane and not feel over committed.

Not having regular commitments has meant I’m more present with my baby and we have more time to do things we love such as, walks in nature, dancing, playing and reading!

However, I’m noticing some days when we might have a Telehealth call or another appointment scheduled, my anxiety creeps up as though I’m not sure how I am going to juggle everything we need to get done!

It seems so ridiculous considering these appointments frequented our pre-isolation life yet because I was so busy doing, I was better able to mask the anxiety. This got me pondering...if I feel this way already, how is the population going to manage when restrictions lift and other commitments become our norm again?

Whilst I’m very much a preacher of living in the moment, maybe we each need to begin to consider how to be kind to ourselves with another inevitable life change looming.

Are there obligations that you can let go of? Are there commitments you had previously that no longer serve you and your family moving forward? Can you become more of a “thank you I’ll think about it and get back to you” person, rather than a “yes” person?

Of course some commitments will be unavoidable like work and school. But even then, use this time to reflect on what your ideal job looks like and get working on how you can bring that to fruition. Keep a daily routine, so that when you need to get up to an alarm again, it’s not such a rude shock.

And last but not least, be kind to yourself. Change is a fact of life but that doesn’t always make it easy. Remember to do something daily for yourself. It could be as simple as a cup of tea or as luxurious as a long walk and meditation.

Enjoy this time we have now to spend with your loved ones, at home or on FaceTime and keep your connections and support network strong. You’ve got this!
